As Minister of Digital, I am pleased to support Smart Nation Expo 2026, an important platform that advances Malaysia’s digital transformation in line with the MADANI government’s nation-building agenda. Under initiatives such as MyDIGITAL, the National Digital Economy Blueprint, the Industrial Master Plan 2030, and our forthcoming national frameworks on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital talent development, Malaysia is entering a decisive phase of digital acceleration.
Smart Nation Expo 2026 directly complements these priorities. By bringing together policymakers, global technology leaders, investors, and local innovators, this platform strengthens our collective capacity to build the digital infrastructure required for a highvalue, innovation-led economy. It also supports our policy goals of expanding SME digital adoption, advancing cloud and data governance, enhancing national cybersecurity resilience, and nurturing a future-ready workforce capable of competing regionally and globally.
As we push forward with a whole-of-nation approach to digitalisation, collaboration between government and industry is more critical than ever. I commend Informa Markets for creating this strategic convergence point for ideas, partnerships, and investment. Every smart city I’ve had the chance to visit, or help shape, has taught me the same lesson: no single ministry, developer or vendor builds one alone. It takes an alliance. That’s what the Malaysia Smart Cities Alliance Association (MSCA) was built for, and it’s why I’m delighted to welcome all exhibitors, speakers and delegates to Smart Nation Expo 2026. MSCA brings together local authorities, industry players, technology providers and academia to work through the practical issues of building smart cities in Malaysia, from helping shape the Malaysia Smart City Rating framework, to sitting down with city councils as they draft their own smart city action plans, to connecting our members with the financing and market access they need to deliver.
What I find genuinely encouraging about Smart Nation Expo is that it mirrors how smart cities actually get built, not as three separate conversations about infrastructure, commerce and mobility, but as one interconnected system. A city’s fibre and 5G networks are only as useful as the services they unlock; those services only matter if people can move through the city to use them. Malaysia’s ambition to turn our cities, including the federal territories, into genuinely smart and liveable places by 2030 will not be achieved through policy documents alone; it needs the kind of practical, on-the-ground collaboration between government agencies, city councils, technology providers and communities that platforms like this one are built for.
I’m looking forward to walking the floor at Smart Nation Expo 2026, to seeing what our members and fellow stakeholders have brought to the table, and to a few good conversations that, with any luck, turn into the next round of partnerships and pilots. As a supporting partner of this year’s exhibition, MyZEVA is proud to be part of an event that brings together the ideas, technologies and partnerships shaping the future of smarter and more sustainable cities.
At MyZEVA, we believe that the transition to electric vehicles is about much more thanreducing emissions. It is about improving the way Malaysians live, work and move. Cleanmobility is becoming an essential part of a smart nation, where transportation, energy and digital infrastructure work seamlessly together to create better experiences for everyone.
When we think about a smart city, we often imagine advanced technology. But for most people, a smart city is experienced through everyday moments: the journey to work, reliable public transport, efficient deliveries, convenient EV charging, and cleaner air for our families. These are the things that make smart cities meaningful.
That is why we are pleased to support the Mobility & Energy Corridors pillar of Smart Nation Expo 2026. Building a successful electric mobility ecosystem requires more than electric vehicles alone. It requires reliable charging infrastructure, an intelligent energy network, supportive policies, skilled talent, and close collaboration between both the public and private sectors.
Since our establishment in 2021, MyZEVA has brought together stakeholders from across Malaysia’s EV ecosystem, including vehicle manufacturers, charging point operators, power utilities, technology providers, solution providers and industry partners. Working closely with government agencies and policymakers, we continue to support the development of practical policies, industry standards and initiatives that will accelerate EV adoption throughout the country.
These efforts are closely aligned with Malaysia’s national aspirations under the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021–2030 and the National Energy Transition Roadmap, which set a clear direction for the country’s transition towards low-carbon mobility and a more sustainable energy future.
Events such as Smart Nation Expo provide an important platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration and innovation. They bring together the right people to exchange ideas, forge new partnerships and explore practical solutions that will help shape the future of mobility and energy in Malaysia and across ASEAN region.
I encourage all participants to take this opportunity to engage with one another, discover new technologies, and explore how we can work together to build smarter, cleaner and more connected communities.
